Combining the drama of 19th century architecture with the austerity of contemporary design is this enticing renovation of a Parisian apartment by Peruvian architect Diego Delgado-Elias.

The architect’s own home already boasted those gorgeous heritage elements that dreams are made of: high ceilings, French doors, chevron parquet floors, ornate molding, and gilded wainscoting. oak herringbone flooring

But to bring the 150-square-meter (approximately 1,615 square feet) pad into the 21st century, Delgado-Elias added a few “interventions” to balance out the fairytale.

He did this by introducing minimalist black surfaces to the otherwise bright surfaces by way of low wooden shelf that runs along the wall below the windows, a black-box-like foyer, and a “floating” concrete island in the kitchen. A built-in wall unit in the bedroom that doubles as a headboard is also painted black.

Wood Flooring As for furniture and decor, midcentury and otherwise modern pieces occupy the space, mingling with sections of unfinished walls and antique mirrors marked with patina. Have a look.
